Customer Question: Can you stock Mom's Munchies gf cookies? I love the pecan ones. They're sold in White River Junction co-op grocery and can be mail ordered.

Co-op Answer: Thank you for your input! These look great - unfortunately, including the price of mail ordering they would be a very expensive item.  We also try to keep our bakery items as local as possible.  We have a new GF bakery coming in soon - Sweet Alchemy! -Olivia, Grocery Buyer

Q: Requesting some new Larabar flavors, especially beet, ginger turmeric: Superfoods - hazelnut, hemp, cacao and fruits and greens.

A:  Thank you for your input! Those flavors all sound great! I will look into maybe discontinuing some of our slower selling flavors to make room for these. -Olivia, Grocery Buyer

Q: Please carry these [Greens Plus Bar] -  really want to see more GF options! They're healthy and they taste delicious!

A: Thank you for your input! Unfortunately this product is not available through our distributors.  We will try to keep an eye on whether or not it becomes available in the future. -Olivia, Grocery Buyer

A: Thank you for your input! Ripple is a new and popular brand that we are definitely trying to find room for.  It will be on the shelf the minute we find space.  -Olivia, Grocery Buyer

Q: Why no Brater's Ice Cream - flavor Buckeye Blitz? Please get it! It is really good!

A: Thank you for your input! Unfortunately, this flavor of ice cream is not available through our distributor.  I will keep an eye out to see if it does become available to order. -Olivia, Grocery Buyer

Q: The Stonyfield Farm yogurt you carry is awful.  Why don't you sell the kind with a separate container for the fruit? I buy no yogurt here.

A: Thank you for your input.  I'm sorry if you don't enjoy our current selection of Stonyfield yogurts.  I am unable to find the Stonyfield item that has a separate  container for the fruit.  If you would like to send me a label or UPC code, I may be able to help you more.  -Olivia, Grocery Buyer

Q: This Lifeway Kefir, coconut chia, is excellent!  Please carry it!

A: Thank you for your input! Unfortunately, this item is not available at our distribution center yet.  I will let our representative know that there is interest.  -Olivia, Grocery Buyer

Q: I am vegan and I buy a few products from the company called Beyond Meat.  You carry their meatless burgers already.  Would you consider stocking their crumbles? It makes awesome chili.

A: Thank you for your input! This sounds like a wonderful addition to our frozen vegan meat options.  I will check with our frozen buyer to see if we have room. -Olivia, Grocery Buyer

Q: Can you please stock large containers of Green Valley lactose free non-fat yogurt.

A: Thank you for your input! Unfortunately, room in our dairy cooler is very limited, so it is hard to expand lines.  I will keep this item in mind to bring in if we gain space in that area. -Olivia, Grocery Buyer

Q: Would love to see Tate's gluten free cookies - they're delicious

A: Thank you for your input! I will make a shelf space for these items and they should be here in the next week or so. -Olivia, Grocery Buyer

Q: Please bring back Ener-G egg replacer.  The new stuff is not cost effective for baking.  I'm guessing that you got this as a sub for tofu scrambler which is not available, but the Ener-G is better.

A: Thank you for your input! We will happily look into replacing our current vegan egg item with a more cost effective item.  I hope to have this change made in the next two weeks, once we sell through the back stock of our current product. -Olivia, Grocery Buyer

A: Thank you for your input! We will plan on bringing in the Madhava brand of organic light agave syrup. -Olivia, Grocery Buyer

Q: Why does the OV milk half gallon always have such a short shelf life?
A: Thank you for your input! OV milk actually has the longest shelf life of any of the milks we carry, because of how it is pasteurized.  However, unlike our local dairy, OV milk is shipped multiple times from farm, to processor, to OV warehouse, to our distributor's warehouse, to us.  That means it spends much of its shelf life sitting on trucks.  It still comes to us with two weeks left until its sell-by date, which is longer than our other milks.  -Olivia, Grocery Buyer

Q: Bring back Nourish Coconut Vanilla Granola Bites, please!

A: Thank you for your input! That product was here for a limited time promotion.  We will review space in the snack aisle and see if there is room to make this a fulltime item. -Olivia, Grocery Buyer

Q: I missed the answer to this if it was posted previously - can you get a more affordable bulk vanilla? What happened to the price? (Yikes!)

A: Thank you for your input! Unfortunately, the island of Madagascar was hit by a devastating cyclone.  This small island produces 85% of the world's vanilla beans, and most of these crops were damaged or destroyed, causing serious price increases.  The vanilla extracts we carry are still the least expensive options from any of our distributors.  -Olivia, Grocery Buyer

Q: Would love to see more/some GF staples at the Truckload Sales!

A: Thank you for your input! What a wonderful idea! Unfortunately, Truckload has to be planned months in advance, so we won't be able to add anything to the one in September.  But, I will definitely add this idea to my planning notes for the spring! -Olivia, Grocery Buyer

Q: Please order Mama Zuma's Revenge Habanero potato chips.  Route 11 product.  Please! Thanks.

A: Thank you for your input! These look delicious and I will look into finding room for them over by the deli.  They are not currently carried by our distributors but I will ask around. -Olivia, Grocery Buyer

Q: Please stock deli area with an ample supply of metal soup spoons.  Thanks!
A: Will do. -Doug, Prepared Foods Manager

Q: Whoever rolled my salmon sushi roll today did a great job! It was beautiful, well proportioned ingredients rolled smack center, clean even slices, and most of all, it was delicious. Thank you!

A: Glad you enjoyed it! -Doug, Prepared Foods Manager

Q: Single use plastic is extremely bad for the planet and our food supply.  (Fish eat plastic, e.g.) Could we try to rethink how we serve to-go deli food - e.g. incentives for people to bring their own containers, ability to buy in bulk, options for people planning to eat in, compostable containers?

A: We do have an eco-container for people to purchase from the hot/cold bar.  It is a multi-use container that can be purchased at the deli counter.  -Doug, Prepared Foods Manager

Q: Could you share recipes for your grab and go foods? (Hot and pastries/cookies). A long time ago, you had recipes printed on cards (i.e. dahl soup).

A: Of course, send me an email with any requests you may have! dougb@hungermountain.coop -Doug, Prepared Foods Manager

Q: Please consider making other kinds of gluten and sugar free treats for grab and go.  Your cookies are delicious, but I would love to have other items, also. Thanks.
A: We do offer wheat free chocolate torte and cheesecakes in the refrigerated section. -Doug, Prepared Foods Manager

Q: Hi! I bought your curried chicken salad months ago and really enjoyed it, but every time I've looked for it since, the rack is empty.  Do you make this on a regular basis and sell out? Can you make more? Or make it more often? Thanks for considering!

A: We still offer it, sorry it hasn't been out there for you.  You can always call and check as well. -Doug, Prepared Foods Manager

Q: On the GF breakfast options: just something a little less processed, like potatoes and greens/veggies (similar to the brunch options but everyday).

A: We will be adding breakfast items that aren't sandwiches to the bar in the near future. Thanks! -Doug, Prepared Foods Manager

Q: Interesting/tasty nicely cooked Sunday fare. Thanks.

A: Thanks! -Doug, Prepared Foods Manager

Q: Greetings, sushi maker! I'm the herb-lady at Woodbury Meadows campground. So good to have onsite made sushi! Request: Could you leave out the sugar, please?

A: We could, but it is a standard thing in all sushi and one of the reasons it tastes so good.  There is about 1tsp per roll. -Doug, Prepared Foods Manager

General

Q: City Market has a program that offers a discount to individuals that are lower income.  This benefit is attached to a non-paying membership (member does not receive dividends).  Maybe you could consider making your Co-op Cares program more easily accessible.

A: It's an interesting idea, but non-paying member status is not a good expression of Co-op Principle #2: Member Economic Participation. We do have an ongoing scholarship program whereby members can apply for one-time equity subsidies. -Kari, General Manager

Q: A comment on the board complains of rude treatment by a cashier.  Your response could have acknowledged the person's experience (it did) AND given a nod to the great staff you have here.  It was disappointing that management did not have the back of staff at all.

A: I'm sorry to hear you feel this way.  When we receive a complain through the comments and suggestions, rather than issue a vague memo to everyone saying there was a complaint about rudeness (when we find the vast majority of the staff to be pleasant and friendly), we prefer to ask the person who had a poor interaction to provide further details so we can assess whether or not it is necessary to coach someone.  That way, we are not sharing unsubstantiated generalized negative feedback with those who did nothing to bring it on.

If it came across that we are not supportive of our staff, we certainly apologize and would like to take this opportunity to proclaim that we do indeed value everyone here and will not hesitate to stand up for them in the face of cruelty, mean-spiritedness and/or unfounded censure, even if it comes from a customer.  We have done it before. :) -Alison, Asst. Front End Manager

Q: Hi - really really very very good on the solar shelter.  Possible 2X E-car spots would be good, not necessarily 2 chargers.

A: Thanks for your feedback.  We love that you are happy with the solar carport! Given the feedback we receive regarding our reserved spots, we think we have struck a good balance at this point.  We will keep your suggestion in mind if we decide to make any future changes.  Thanks! -Mary, Facilities Manager

Q: 1. Free Speech is essential! If 1 or 2 are out of control on FB/Twitter etc., deal with that individual. 2. Free coffee for employees makes good vibes which turns into good work.

A: We agree that Free Speech is important and free coffee is a very nice benefit for employees. -Kari, General Manager

Q: Why don't you accept WIC?

A: Due to technical issues with our point of sale system, we have been unable to accept WIC since the program switched to electronic payments in 2016.  Very frustrating for many people.  We plan to resolve the issues in the next 1-2 months.  Thank you for your patience.  -Kari, General Manager

Q: I suggest you offer a discount for poor people (or sell yourself to Amazon) (a la Whole Foods).  Signed, Left Leaning Petty Guy.

A: Our Co-op Cares program provides a 10% discount to member-owners who qualify for 3Squares VT or WIC or other low-income programs. -Kari, General Manager

Q: What if the default for members was to have receipts emailed and they had to opt in to automatically get paper receipts?

A: Thanks for your feedback! We prefer not to make use of any email address provided to us by our members unless we need to contact them or unless they give us permission (opt in) for us to send regular emails to them.  When new members sign up, they can opt in to e-receipts right on the application, so their account is set up the way they want it from the get-go! -Alison, Asst. Front End Manager

Q: Your cashiers are helpful and efficient! Pooh on the member who complained!!

A: They are a pretty awesome crew, aren't they? -Alison, Asst. Front End Manager
