Q: The Organic Valley Milk (1/2 gallon size) is now being packaged in plastic.  Customer concerned chemicals in plastic could leak into milk due to lactic acid.

Organic Valley has made this change in order to save on fuel sending product much farther distances to their cardboard packaging facility.  The new plastic containers are BPA free and are #2 plastic (recyclable).  Unfortunately, you would need to reach out directly to Organic Valley to find out if Lactic Acid is strong enough to cause any other leaching of chemicals.  -Olivia, Grocery Buyer

 

Q: Please stock Ripple chocolate.  (Healthy Living has it).

Q: Why do we carry Canada Dry sparkling water? They make ginger ale with high fructose corn syrup.

Q: Kombucha system needs attention.  We are heavy users and easily 50% of the time we need to ask customer service to replenish Kombucha.

Q: How come there's three flavors of muffins and only one of scones? Especially when the good scones sell out quickly.  Not good: chocolate chip, cheddar whatever - taste like sawdust.

Q: Greetings! Suggestion about recycling/trash/compost in the deli: could some artistic staffer draw the actual items used here to help sort recycling and trash? Are the plastic containers recyclable even with food on them? I watch people try to sort properly and they make very different choices for the same item.  Are napkins compostable? Thanks.

A: The Co-op Green Team is currently working with the Co-op Community Relations Department to develop new signage similar to what you have described.  We have looked at what other stores have done for ideas.  Thanks for the input! -Mike, Manager on Duty

 

Q: WIC customers can't come here because the coop does not accept chip card transactions and chip transactions are more secure for you and me. 

A: Actually capacity to handle chip (EMV) cards and electronic WIC benefits are separate issues.  We expect to be able to accept both within a month. -Kari, General Manager

A: We were up until the system moved to electronic payment in the spring of 2016.  We have not had a technological solution through our credit card service provider.  We hope to have that capacity within the next month.  -Kari, General Manager

 

Q: I appreciated the reusable banner and laminated signs.  And, when I see balloons at the coop I don't think "Yeah! Trucksale!" or "Yay! Bday!" I think "Wow, those coop balloons are going to end up in some sea creature's stomach." Can you please use reusable / upcycle art / decorations?
