Food Services

Q: Please include soymilk for the public at the coffee area.  One has to ask for it now.  Not very convenient.  Thank you!

A: Thanks for the note.  Currently it is a very cluttered space and as soymilk is not used that often for product safety we keep it in the cooler.  -Doug, Prepared Foods Manager

Q: Nobody likes lemon or orange poppy seed gluten free muffins.  Take 'em out!

A: Nobody? They do sell out though? What is your favorite? Please stop by and let me know. -Doug, Prepared Foods Manager

Q: Please do not put xanthan gum in all the gluten free bakery products in the café! It causes diarrhea in many gluten free people! I have info (?) there too and suffer from it!

A: Thank you for your feedback.  We are going to experiment with xanthan gum alternatives in all items where we add it (the GF muffins, primarily) and keep you up to date.  I have emailed all the current wheat free items without xanthan gum as well. -Doug, Prepared Foods Manager

Q: Kudos to the cook! Really appreciate the new recipes and delicious flavors.  Thank you!

A: Thanks for the feedback.  We're having fun with it, too. -Doug, Prepared Foods Manager

Q: Great deli hot food!

A: Woohoo! Thanks, passed on to the team. -Doug, Prepared Foods Manager

Q: Why is there tartar sauce on the hot bar for 3 days but no fish?

A: No good reason! Pretty silly, I agree.  We talked about this at our daily line up.  Thanks for the training opportunity. -Doug, Prepared Foods Manager

Q: Coffee grounds in the coffee pretty consistently! All our coffee seems very weak...

A: I'm sorry to hear of your experience.  Thank you for taking the time to bring it to our attention. -Doug, Prepared Foods Manager

Q: It would be great if hot/salad bar items containing meat would have a clearer indicator. The way dairy is highlighted in a different color, for example, would help a lot. Today's baked beans with bacon is an example.
A: Thanks for the suggestion. We do highlight all the major allergens in that way.  Meat isn't one of those, but is listed on the ingredients with all our signs. -Doug, Prepared Foods Manager

Q: More sliced ginger with the maki rolls please!

A: Done! -Doug, Prepared Foods Manager

A: You bet! -Doug, Prepared Foods Manager

A: I will give it a try. -Doug, Prepared Foods Manager

Wellness

Q: I am a long time patron and for years I have ordered Anne Marie Borlind night cream and eye wrinkle cream.  I would so appreciate it if you would consider stocking this.  It is an excellent product, is less costly than some other brands you carry, and I think it would sell well.

A: This is now being stocked in the facial care section to the left of Suki. -Laura, Wellness Manager

Q: Bring back black candles, please.
A: The black candles are located above the soap/incense endcap.  Please let us know if you would like help locating them. -Laura, Wellness Manager

General

Q: The co-op decided to get yet another big screen TV instead of a hand scanner for the front end to help people check out big bags of flour, dog food, and commodities.  Smart? No.
A: We have hand scanners at each register.  The monitor will help us communicate a wider variety of information.  We are experimenting with another monitor for employees in the back of the house.  We got the pair on a super sale.  -Kari, General Manager

Q: I came to "work" in the café.  However, the Wi-Fi signal is so weak as to be useless.  I've tried 3 different devices on different days sitting in different locations.  Either pages take minutes to load or I am continuously disconnected.
A: Sorry to hear that.  It is very surprising given how strong our system is.  I suggest you disconnect and reconnect.  If that doesn't work, please ask an employee to ask for help from our IT staff.  I have not heard this problem from other customers or staff. -Kari, General Manager

Q: Suggest a notice placed in sales advertising people should clear off their license plates to avoid being stopped.

A: Thanks, but I think this goes beyond our role as a food co-op. If I am missing something, please let me know: karib@hungermountain.coop or 262-3219. -Kari, General Manager

Q: Please listen to your employees! -A good customer/member

A: Thank you.  We do our best to listen to all employees as well as members, customers, vendors and others.  You can reach me at 262 -3219 or karib@hungermountain.coop if you would like to discuss further. -Kari, General Manager

Q: The co-op should attempt (plan) to put canvas and plastic siding and roofing and space heaters to utilize part of the patio for seating during the winter.

A: Thank you.  We may explore that in 2018 as a way to expand seating in the café.  We would need permit, design, cost, estimates and projections for increased sales and return on investment.  -Kari, General Manager

Q: Please, could you get nice office chairs (on rolls) for your cashiers? And a corner of 2 comfy, old chairs with a box of toys next for all moms and elders, too?
A: Thank you.  Our registers are not designed for cashiers to sit at and there is not room within the double-sided units for two chairs.  We do provide regular paid breaks, fatigue mats, and a place to sit during quiet times.  As for customer chairs, we do have benches indoors and out.  More would be better but I don't know where they would go.  -Kari, General Manager

Q: How can we reduce plastic further? There are "no plastic" stores in England I think.  Let's become one!

A: What a great concept to aspire towards! While the current demand for convenient/specialty items may prohibit us from going completely plastic free, there are ways you can reduce your consumption as a consumer such as shopping in bulk, reusing bags/containers, and avoiding individually packaged products.  I will bring this to the HMC Green Team to see if we can brainstorm a way to make plastic-free shopping more feasible. -Emma, Customer Service Rep

Q: If I am trying to go plastic free, how do I get bulk baking items (like cocoa) and cheese (like mozzarella) that are pre-packaged without being an interruptive pain.

A: Thank you for your question and your commitment to the environment.  While currently we do not have any systems in place to allow for the purchase of prepared food items in reusable containers due to food safety regulations, we do have reusable eco containers available for purchase at the deli to use at the hot/cold bar. You can also special order items in bulk (such as cocoa) to eliminate additional packaging, or bring your own reusable containers/bags in the bulk department or for produce.  I will bring your question to the HMC Green Team to see if we can come up with a plan to make plastic-free shopping more feasible in the future.  Thanks! -Emma, Customer Service Rep

Q: Hello, would you consider adding a 2nd electric car charger?
A: We have gotten multiple requests for this and we will be considering it.  Thanks. -Mary, Facilities Manager

Q: I am very happy we now have an EV car charger.  But, every other time it is busy.  Would you consider adding a 2nd electric car charger/2nd cable?
A: We have received multiple requests for this and we will be considering it. -Mary, Facilities Manager

Q: Thank you for the free water, but can there be two spigots? It would speed things up a lot.

A: This is not feasible at the moment, but we will keep this suggestion in mind for future changes. -Mary, Facilities Manager
