Q: Left this same note about a month ago - and just wanted to follow up again.  We were disappointed to see Poland Spring bottled water in the store.  We grew up on the watershed that Poland Spring pumps from - despite their slick marketing, the impact on the environment and local communities has been deeply negative.
A: Thank you for your input! As a fellow Mainer with a family home on that watershed, I understand the concern.  However, our customers have made it clear that they want us to carry bottled water and I don't believe there is any bottled water brand without issues.  We provide alternatives to Poland Spring including a compostable water and a free filtered water station. We encourage customers to vote with their dollar and not purchase products they don't agree with. -Olivia, Grocery Buyer


Q: Please remove the product brand "Method" from your shelves.  It is loaded with toxic ingredients - including synthetic ingredients.  They are dishonest about their advertising. 

A: Thank you for your input! I will be conducting a thorough review of the Method cleaning line to make sure these products do not contain any ingredients on our banned list.  From there, we may choose to continue carrying products that meet our requirements, but we always encourage our customers to vote with their shopping so that we can see what our customers do and don't want us to carry. Q: Brio Coffee now has 3 decaf coffees -- could you get one? Single origin decaf is hard to find (I don't want to go to healthy living!) Thanks!

Q: Please bring back Siggi's large plain skyr. It's 0% fat and a higher concentration than any of the others? Need space? Cut some Siggi small sizes?

A: Thank you for your input! We made the decision to discontinue this product to make room in our set for a new local Skyr option from Green Mountain Creamery.  The Co-op prioritizes local whenever possible, and we are very excited about this new Skyr.  -Olivia, Grocery Buyer

Q: Could you please carry Coco Polo milk chocolate bars (stevia) and Go Raw cocoa granola?

Q: Kite Hill plain, unsweetened almond yogurt (large).  Coco Polo dark chocolate cherry.  Don't want to have to shop at competitor!
A: Thank you for your input! We have recently changed our Coco Polo line because our distributor changed their offerings - we now stock 70%, Pure Dark with Cacao Nibs, and Dark with Ginger.  This are the only bars we can buy.  We do carry the large, plain Kit Hill. 16 oz is the largest they offer. -Olivia, Grocery Buyer

Q: Could you please carry - So Delicious unsweetened organic coconut milk - vanilla and Coco Polo bars in milk chocolate.

We try to carry a selection based on the popularity of a product - the unsweetened vanilla coconut milk, nation wide, is the slowest selling half gallon they make.  As for the CoCo Polo, unfortunately this flavor was discontinued by our distributors so we can no longer bring it in. -Olivia, Grocery Buyer


Q: I requested Amazake a few weeks ago and never heard back.  There are other companies that make it besides Rhapsody's.  You used to carry it. Hazelnut.

Unfortunately, these style products are not great sellers for our store so we hesitate to give shelf space to something that won't sell.  Also, all of our major distributors have stopped carrying Amazake, which means it is difficult to source.  Our refrigerated buyer should be able to help you place a special order for the local option. -Olivia, Grocery Buyer

Q: Is Co-op carrying Maison Orphee unrefined canola oil?

Q: Will you get soy bologna back? Also eggplant parmesan (frozen).

Q: Is it possible to get refills of Method dish soap? They make them but I have never seen them in the Co-op or any other grocery stores.

Q: I would love HUGE portions of hummus.  I eat a lot of hummus and always buy at Shaw's cause would need to buy like 4 small Cedars a week.  Thank you!

A: Thank you for your input! As far as I can tell, Cedars does not make any larger size hummus, nor do any of our distributors carry any larger sizes by other brands.  However, our deli makes delicious hummus sold by the pound, so they may be able to help you stock up.  -Olivia, Grocery Buyer

Q: I love the deli bar, but the last few meals have been problematic.  Specifically, foods are not hot, and often actually cold.  I've also had way undercooked vegetables.  I don't like overcooked veggies, but potatoes, broccoli, and hard carrots, not good.  Thanks!

Q: Please offer a few salmon pieces with two per plastic box.  I buy four at a time and would like to reduce the amount of plastic to recycle.  Reduce, reuse, recycle.

Q: Would it be possible for you to get butcher paper in your deli that is not coated in plastic film?

Q: Co-op berry pies crumb topping seems to be getting thicker. 1) when you have mac and cheese, please make non-dairy items available. 2) Soups, by evening mostly all broth, please check. 3) Maybe some variety? Lactose intolerant people need more choices.  Thanks for all you do.

A: In this years business plan we included hiring someone to help us with a communications plan to better tell the Co-ops story about all of the good things we are doing to advance our mission.  We selected Leonine here in Montpelier and the plan should be finalized in the next month or so. -Kari, General Manager

 

Q: I wish we could get larger discounts on weekly sales.  Especially if you have a larger bill and do not come in every day.
A: Thanks for the feedback.  I would like us to offer deeper discounts and/or lower every day prices as well, but we operate on very tight margins.  In our business, most of the sales originate with the produce and get passed on to the consumer.  The Co-op offers member sales and discounts. -Kari, General Manager

Q: It is too bad (some of) the people working here seem to be so unhappy with this place they talk about it while stocking shelves.  Customers are happy to have such a lovely coopt shop at and glad you support a livable wage, a union, and benefits.  We buy this food with love in our hearts for all and hope you will stock shelves with love in your hearts for each other and for us. Focus on gratitude.

Q: As a loyal member to the coop, it would be appreciated if people checking me out would help bag my purchases.  Also, it would expedite the service for everyone.
