Our community extends well beyond the walls of the Co-op. Each month we shine the spotlight on a new group of local partners to help share their stories and celebrate their role in our community.
We currently work with over 500 local vendors and have more than 3,000 local products on our shelves. Last year, nearly 40% of our sales were from local products. This month we are featuring La Panciata, a family-owned and operated bakery in Northfield. La Panciata has been producing delicious Italian-style bread in Vermont since 1992. They source many ingredients locally and seek to give back to the community.
In collaboration with Provisions International, New England Cheesemakers, and the Neighboring Food Co-op Association, we highlight two regional artisanal cheese producers each month.
Reverie is from Parish Hill Creamery in Westminster, Vermont. Parish Hill Creamery is a family endeavor drawing on Peter Dixon’s 35 years of cheese making experience. Reverie is a traditional, semi-hard Toma, with a bright milky flavor and slight tang when young, becoming sharper and more robust with allium notes, as it ages. Wild molds are encouraged, and the rind resembles gray stone. Reverie is aged at least five months.
Shelburne Two Year Cheddar, from Shelburne Farms in Shelburne, Vermont, has a wonderfully rich, savory, milky flavor balanced by full and fruity undertones. Maturing for two years yields a crumbly texture that turns creamy in the mouth. Shelburne Farms cheddar is prized throughout the world and considered to be one of the great American cheddars.
These cheese are also on sale during their featured month! Check out the deals here.
Anytime you check-out at the Co-op, you can choose to "give change" by rounding up your total to the nearest dollar. During November and December, your change will help fill 650 grocery bags with healthy food staples for our neighbors in need through the Co-op's 15th annual Holiday Grocery Pack. Many thanks to Northfield Savings Bank and the Vermont Foodbank for partnering with the Co-op on this vital community event.
The Art in the Café program supports and cultivates the local arts by displaying the work of the members and staff artists in the Co-op's café. Our family-friendly, month-long exhibits create a pleasant dining experience for customers. This month we are featuring Jennifer Palkowski-Jacques. Learn more about our featured artist here.
We offer a variety of workshops, events, and vendor demos to delight and inform our shoppers. Thank you to everyone who recently attended our Food & Wellness Fair. You can see photos from the event here. View our calendar for upcoming events here.
