Council Corner: February Update
The Hunger Mountain Co-op Council consists of nine member-owners elected to govern our cooperative. The council is responsible for communicating with member-owners, hiring and overseeing the general manager, and establishing policies among other governance functions. Member-owners are encouraged to communicate your ideas, suggestions, and feedback to council members.
Council Corner Update by Scott Hess, council president
Your council just had its annual retreat. We focused on how best to
communicate with members, beginning our work on a communication plan to
help us tell the story of how our co-op is meeting our mission of
contributing to a healthy community, sustainable local food systems, and
thriving cooperative commerce. The conversations at the retreat gave us
a head start on planning our work and potential committees for the
coming year. Our priorities and committee assignments will be finalized
at an upcoming council meeting.
All members are welcome to attend council meetings which are generally the first Monday of each month at 5:30 pm in the Co-op’s community room. Council members are always available to hear your comments and concerns. Our contact information is posted here and near the exit of the store.
On behalf of the council, I would like to thank the staff, members, and community for your support of our wonderful and healthy co-op. Among other recent highlights, local products now make up 40% of co-op sales and our Feed a Family Food Drive in December brought in 870 pounds of food for donation and $5,100 in cash for the Vermont Foodbank.
