Educational Wine and Cheese Tasting – 12/28/18
This Friday, Dec. 28, we will have an educational wine and cheese tasting from 3-6pm in the center of our store.
For this pairing, and just in time for your New Year’s celebration, we will feature a selection of bubbly wines perfect for ringing in 2019. These will include Pizzolato Prosecco, La Marca Prosecco, GH Mumm Champagne, and Kraemer Brut Sparkling. The major differences between prosecco and champagne are twofold: where they come from and how they are produced. In terms of place of origin, true champagne must come from the Champagne region of France, while prosecco is from the northeastern region of Italy. Additionally, champagne is produced using a higher-cost method, compared to prosecco’s more affordable process, which sometimes leads to the higher price tag of champagne. Come in on Friday and compare four wonderful sparkling beverages for yourself.
Our bubbly wines will be paired with French Saint Andre cheese. This is a soft-ripened, bloomy-rind, triple crème cow’s milk cheese from the Normandy region of northwest France. With a dense, decadent interior, its flavor is buttery and rich, like an intense brie, or a brie combined with sour cream or sweet whipped cream. That quality comes from the heavy cream that is added during the cheese making process, giving it a high butter fat content but also making it totally worth it.
During this educational tasting, you will also have the chance to make a personalized gift out of a bottle of La Marca Prosecco. After you try the La Marca, have a bottle label customized with any message you want. It’s a perfect item to bring to a New Year’s party or for a belated holiday gift.
We hope to see you on Friday from 3-6pm for this exciting pairing.
