August Local Focus
Our community extends well beyond the walls of the Co-op. Each month, we shine the spotlight on a new group of local partners to help share their stories and celebrate their role in our community.
Featured Vendor: All Souls Tortilleria
Based in Burlington, All Souls makes naturally gluten-free and vegan organic corn tortillas, made with just organic corn, water, and lime. Read more here.
Featured Community Partner: Central Vermont Humane Society
Central Vermont Humane Society shelters over 1,000 homeless, lost, abandoned, abused and neglected companion animals each year, and finds new loving, adoptive homes for them. With a priority to serve local animals, CVHS goes the extra mile to provide exceptional medical care and behavioral rehabilitation to the animals in its care. CVHS compassionately assists families during times of crisis and transition and its work and mission impact countless people whose lives are enriched by animals. Bag that Bag to Help a Neighbor in Need
Help support the Montpelier Food Pantry every time you shop at Hunger Mountain Co-op just by remembering your reusable bags! For each bag, basket or box that you use at the register, we will donate five cents to the Food Pantry. Last month, this totaled $904.90 and saved 18,098 paper bags. In this past year, you have helped to raise a total of $11,342.85 and saved 226,848 bags. Since launching this program in July 2016, we have donated $32,698.55 to the food pantry and replaced 653,983 paper bags.Read more about the work of Just Basics, Inc and the Food Pantry here.
