In early 2016, the Co-op launched our Art in the Café
program to showcase the work of our member-owner and staff artists in our café
seating area. Our month-long local art exhibits are geared toward creating a
pleasant dining experience for café customers.
Our featured café artist for October is Sandra Maccarrone. The
following are excerpts from our conversation with Sandra.
Describe the art you are presenting in the Co-op Café this month. My first watercolor class was in 1977 while I was living on the coast of Oregon. The climate was wet, and every view was a watercolor painting. I try to convey my feeling for the scene. People who enjoy watercolors and nature have said that they enjoy my work.
How has your practice changed over time? At 76, I realize that nature’s beauty has sustained me wherever I have lived.
Name three artists who inspire you. Phyllis Greenway (Northfield), Patient Teacher Lisa Beach (Stowe) with her “skyflow” brush Annelein Beukenkamp (Burlington) clean, confident work
