The Co-op’s featured community partner for September is Kellogg-Hubbard Library. Kellogg-Hubbard, which opened in the summer of 1895, is a public library located in downtown Montpelier that also serves Berlin, Calais, East Montpelier, and Worcester. Learn more about the library’s rich history.
In July, Kellogg-Hubbard Library announced a new “fine-free” initiative. The goal is to remove economic barriers and advance equity in their library services by eliminating fines for overdue materials. Our co-op is proud to be a financial underwriter of this valuable community program.
On average, late fees have accounted for more than $25,000 annually. As Kellogg-Hubbard transitions to this new model, they need the community’s help to ensure the library can sustain its operations.
Now through September 26, Co-op shoppers can support the library’s efforts to eliminate the barriers to equal access to information by rounding up their total to the next dollar or making a donation at the register.
