Our community extends well beyond the walls of the Co-op. Each month we shine the spotlight on a new group of local partners to help share their stories and celebrate their role in our community.

Featured Co-op Vendor

Nitty Gritty Grain Co Grain FieldOur Co-op works with over 500 local vendors and has more than 3,000 local products on our shelves. Last year, nearly 40% of our sales were from local products.

This month we are featuring local vendor Nitty Gritty Grain Company of Vermont. Nitty Gritty Grain Co. is a certified organic grain company located in Charlotte, Vermont. The farm is a small, family-owned facility with a focus on environmental and nutritional sustainability. They offer information on where their grains are sourced to assure customers they are purchasing a quality, wholesome and healthy product

Give Change By Rounding Up

Any time you check-out at the Co-op, you can choose to "give change" by rounding up your total to the nearest dollar. During August, your change will benefit Good Beginnings of Central Vermont. Since 1991, they have been providing a number of services to local families and their newest family member. Click here to learn more about Good Beginnings of Central Vermont.

Bag That Bag to Help a Neighbor in Need

Help support the Montpelier Food Pantry every time you shop at Hunger Mountain Co-op just by remembering your reusable bags! For each bag, basket or box that you use at the register, we will donate five cents. In July, those nickels added up to $800.75 for the Montpelier Food Pantry. This past year, Co-op shoppers have helped raise $11,696.30 and have saved 233,926 bags!

Since joining Montpelier Alive’s Bag that Bag program two years ago, Co-op shoppers have now collectively raised $21,588.55 for our neighbors in need while reducing their environmental impact by replacing 431,771 potential paper bags.

Through a recent grant from the Hunger Mountain Cooperative Community Fund, the Montpelier Food Pantry has launched a recipe kit program. Click here to learn more about this program and the great work the food pantry is doing.
