Can real organic farming be saved? Join the Real Organic Project for their second annual Symposium at Dartmouth College this April 3 & 4 for two days of Ted-style talks from 25+ speakers that address this very question! As climate, nutrition, food, politics, and money are more intimately and obviously tied together than ever, we are excited to bring solutions to the forefront of the conversation. Keynote speakers include climate author Paul Hawken, farmer Eliot Coleman, and NASA scientist David Grinspoon.

Additional speakers include Representative Chellie Pingree (Maine), Emily Oakley (farmer), Hugh Kent (farmer), Tyrone Hayes (Berkley professor), Paul Holmbeck (Policy Director from Organic Denmark), Peter Whoriskey (Washington Post journalist), Javier Zamora (farmer), JM Fortier (author and farmer), Alan Lewis (Policy Director Natural Grocers), Anne Ross (activist involved in fighting grain fraud), Fred Provenza (retired professor Utah), David Zuckerman (VT Lieutenant Governor and farmer), Michael Sligh (former NOSB), Harriet Behar (farmer and former NOSB), David Mortensen (NOSB and professor UNH), Paul Muller (farmer), Jennifer Taylor (farmer), Dave Chapman (Executive Director for Real Organic Project), and Linley Dixon (ROP Associate Director, farmer, and PhD plant pathologist).

  • Woodcock Watch

    April 16, 2020

    713 Elm Street Montpelier, VT

    713 Elm Street Montpelier, VT

It’s spring and love is in the air! We will listen and watch for the mesmerizing courtship flight of the American Woodcock (a.k.a. Timberdoodle), which nests along the North Branch of the Winooski near our nature center. With luck, we may also be serenaded by Wilson’s Snipe and a chorus of Spring Peepers. This springtime spectacle has awed nature lovers across the northeast for centuries.

Co-hosted with North Branch Nature Center

Fee: Free for members /$10 non-members (NBNC or HMC), paid at the door.

RSVP required. Visit https://northbranchnaturecenter.org/event/woodcock-watch-2020/ to sign up

    Rain date: April 30
