This Friday, April 5, we will be having an educational wine and cheese tasting in the center of our store from 3-6pm.

During April, we will be sampling wines from South America. Most wine lovers have already savored a glass of Argentinean Malbec or Chilean Carménère, but the South American wine industry does not stop with these two signature grapes, nor is it contained to the usual suspects of Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon. These “noble grapes” may dominate much of the export market these days, but winemakers are experimenting with other “forgotten” varietals exiled to the Americas over the past five centuries in hopes of discovering the next great South American vino. On Friday, we will be sampling wines from Argentina, including Alamos Cabernet Sauvignon, Alamos Malbec, Nicolas Catena Zapata Red, and Clos de los siete Red.

Along with this selection of wines, we will be sampling a cheddar cheese that results from a collaboration between two major local success stories. Jasper Hill Farm has been making fine cheeses for some time, and are known for their cave-aging process and the many awards their cheeses have won. Cabot Creamery is an internationally known and local beloved cooperative business making a wide selection of great chesses. When you buy products from Cabot, you are supporting a cooperative business made up of 1,000 northeast dairy farms who source their milk locally and all share in common beliefs. Some of their White Oak Cheddar is sent to Jasper Hill and aged in caves to make the Cave Aged Cheddar by Jasper Hill Farm we are sampling on Friday.

We hope to see you for this exciting tasting on Friday between 3-6pm.Beer and wine tastings are open to anyone aged 21 and older.
