The Northeast Organic Farming Association of Vermont promotes organic practices to build an economically viable, ecologically sound, and socially just Vermont agricultural system that benefits all living things. NOFA-VT is working to ensure that Vermont is home to thriving farms and agriculturally-rooted communities that support the long-term well-being of the earth and all its people. Their wide suite of core activities include: holistic services to farmers in all phases of their business’ lifecycle, including high-integrity organic certification; resilience, adaptation, and organic practices implementation support, and business development support; market development for local and organic foods; food access for all; agricultural engagement and literacy for the whole public; and organizing and policy efforts that seek to advance transformative change by growing the movement towards ecological and social justice.
Volunteering Summary
Varying on the season, NOFA-VT averages about 60 volunteers per year, most in the summer for their pizza oven or in February for their annual winter conference. They have various administrative tasks throughout the year, such as assistance with mailings or data entry.
