Hunger Mountain Co-op exists to create and sustain a vibrant community of healthy individuals, sustainable local food systems, and thriving cooperative commerce.
We host a variety of events, including product demos led by our demo coordinator and many of our local vendors, educational wine & cheese tastings, tabling with area nonprofits, Co-op council meetings, and more. Check out the calendar below for all the details.
Our Co-op also curates workshops as part of our mission to educate the community, offering diverse learning opportunities while holding presenters accountable for providing information that is informative and well-researched. Workshops are free unless otherwise noted and are typically held in our upstairs Community Room, with access to a freight elevator upon request. Space is limited and pre-registration is encouraged. Happy Pi Day! All manner of pies will be featured today, from fruit pies provided by our local bakery vendors to quiches made right here in the Co-op’s kitchen.
Assorted large and small pies from Red Door Bakery, in Marshfield, VT, will be on sale up to $2 off. Red Door will also be here sampling pies from 3-6pm.
Assorted frozen pizzas from Half Baked Pizza VT, out of South Burlington, VT, will be on sale at $5.00 off.
Co-op made quiches, in kale & cheddar and bacon & mushroom varieties, will be on sale. Like everything that comes out of our kitchen, our quiches are made with ingredients that are local, organic, or both whenever possible. Whole quiches will be $2.00 off, and slices will be up to $1 off.

On Friday, March 15, from 3-6pm, we will be having an educational wine and cheese tasting in the center of our store.
This month, we are featuring wines from Australia, which has become the sixth largest wine producing country in the world. Nearly 2,000 wineries are spread through every state, and many of them are small family-owned operations. On Friday, we will be sampling from Rosemount Estate, located in South Australia, where the wine industry is responsible for more than half the production of all Australian wine. The region has a vast diversity in geography and climate, which allows the state to be able to produce a range of grape varieties–from the cool climate Riesling variety in the Clare Valley wine region to the big, full-bodied Shiraz wines of the Barossa Valley. Come in on Friday for the Rosemount Shiraz Cabernet Sauvignon Blend, Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay, and Merlot.
Along with those wines, we will be sampling Ascutney Mountain Cheese from Cobb Hill. Cobb Hill is an intentional co-housing community in Hartland Four Corners, Vermont, begun by Donella Meadows, renowned founder of the Sustainability Institute. Cobb Hill is comprised of people learning to live lightly on the earth and building community among themselves and with their Hartland neighbors. The intention of sustainability underlies the living, farming, land stewardship, learning and teaching activities across all components of the community. Their cheese is made from raw milk that comes from pastured Jersey cows that are bred and raised at Cobb Hill by their dairy enterprise partners Cedar Mountain Farm. From May to September, the herd grazes on pasture maintained without artificial pesticides or fertilizers. During the non-pasture season, the Jerseys eat a small amount of grain as well as hay that is grown on the fields of Cobb Hill and neighboring farms. Ascutney Mountain is an alpine-style raw cow’s milk cheese with a sweet, mild, nutty flavor. Similar to a gruyere or raclette, it has a smooth and creamy texture and pairs well with a variety of beers and wines.
