Mayday! All hands on deck! Workshop

    6:00 PM-7:30 PM
    May 1, 2019
    Hunger Mountain Co-op
    623 Stone Cutters Way

Montpelier, Vermont may be the smallest state capital in the country, but it arguably has one of the largest per-capita cultures of innovative thinkers and sound environmental policies in the U.S. However, to become the beacon of climate resilience and sustainability, we need a major boost. And that’s where Mayday, the call for help comes in. We need all hands on deck!

The time is ripe to set a standard on the most local level, for livable, walkable cities, prepared to weather the storms of a warming planet.  We need a local Green New Deal energizing every neighborhood in Montpelier. Acting now, we could prepare for one of the worst threats of climate change, facing our small city – the increases  in precipitation and severities of storm events. Perhaps a Civilian Corps of Montpelier Neighbors could build a green infrastructure to mitigate floods and keep polluted water from reaching our rivers?

What would a Green New Deal look like for Montpelier? Come explore that idea with Moderator Elizabeth Courtney, Dan Jones, the Sustainable Montpelier Coalition staff, John Snell, Sarah Hoffmeier and members of the Montpelier Tree Board

Space is limited and registration in advance is suggested. To attend this free workshop, sign up on the bulletin board in our exit way, call us at 802-262-3202 or use this online form.

All workshops are held in the Hunger Mountain Co-op community room unless otherwise noted, with access to a freight elevator upon request.
