All Treat, No Trick, This Halloween at the Co-op

Deciding what to hand out to trick-or-treaters on Halloween can be…well…tricky, especially if you want something more healthy or wholesome, or appropriate for alternative diets. You might want to give out candy, but not the kind that includes artificial flavors, dyes or things like high fructose corn syrup. Alternatively, you may want candy that is local, organic, vegan, non-GMO, gluten-free, or Kosher.
It may seem frighteningly difficult at first, but it’s easy at Hunger Mountain Co-op. We offer a wide range of Halloween candies that are filled with natural and real ingredients while still being so fun and delicious, it’s scary. And none of them will ever have artificial dyes and flavors or high fructose corn syrup.
Wholesome brand Halloween Ghost and Skull Shaped Lollipops are USDA organic, gluten-free, fair trade, vegan, kosher, and non-GMO. They are made with natural, fruit juice-based coloring, and great for something to hand out to trick-or-treaters that you can feel good about.
Lake Champlain Milk or Dark Chocolate Squares are USDA organic, fair trade, kosher, and the dark chocolate is vegan. These chocolate pieces from local Lake Champlain Chocolates feature a seasonally appropriate black cat or owl on each piece of chocolate and are perfect for handing out as Halloween treats.
Our lead grocery buyer Olivia Dunton proclaims, “I’m obsessed with this candy corn,” referring to Yum Earth Candy Corn. In fact, she says, she lives for this Halloween treat, which is USDA organic, gluten-free, non-GMO, and contains no dairy and no nuts. It’s also great for giving out to trick-or-treaters if you don’t eat it all yourself first.
Other items included in our lineup of Halloween candy you can feel good about are:
Yum Earth Gummy Fangs and Bats are USDA organic, gluten-free, vegan, contain no nuts and are non-GMO.
