In the next few weeks, we will be assembling our General Manger Search committee. We are looking for you to nominate two member-owners to participate in the important work of identifying the Co-op’s next General Manager. Below is the proposed charter that describes the scope and limitations of the committee. We will have staff randomly draw names for the member-owner open seats on the committee Friday afternoon and inform members of the outcome.

Proposed General Manager Search Committee Charter

The GM Search Committee will advise the Council regarding the hiring of a General Manager.

The Council is responsible for deciding which candidate is offered the position and their compensation.

The Committee shall comprise nine members and a staff member to provide operational support;

• Two Council members (chosen by the Council),
• Four Co-op members (nominated by Co-op members, drawn from a pool of nominations by Co-op staff, Council will ratify),
• One Co-op manager (chosen by management),
• Two Co-op non-management employees (nominated and elected by the employees).

All committee members are expected to maintain confidentiality and treat fellow committee members with respect, courtesy and kindness. Any committee members who are unable to follow these guidelines will be removed and replacements will be sought in the same way the original committee members were established.

The Committee Chair will keep the Council informed, providing meeting minutes and all committee recommendations in a timely manner.

Applicants will be screened by the committee to determine whether they should be interviewed. The committee will recommend to the Council Chair, as soon as they are identified, all qualified applicants to move forward in the hiring process, until notified by the Council to pause or end their work.

The Committee will move expeditiously and endeavor to provide a candidate for vote by the Council as soon as reasonably possible.
