NBNC Naturalist Journeys 2024
Stories from the Poles: Science and Adventure in Greenland and Antarctica with Ruth Heindel (VIRTUAL)
Ruth will share stories about her experience conducting fieldwork along the margin of the Greenland Ice Sheet and in the McMurdo Dry Valleys of Antarctica, two locations that are shaped by their extreme climates and are sensitive to change. For each research location, Ruth will give a brief introduction to the climate, ecology, and geology of the region, explain what it’s like to travel to and conduct field research there, and share a few findings from her research, which focuses on the role of wind and dust in shaping landscapes.
