February Local Focus
Our community extends well beyond the walls of the Co-op. Each month, we shine the spotlight on a new group of local partners to help share their stories and celebrate their role in our community.
Featured Vendor: Farmhouse Chocolates & Ice Cream
“Our company’s ethos centers on the meeting of responsibility and pleasure. Sourcing organic, fair trade, and local ingredients, we carefully craft dark chocolate confections that emphasize taste, texture, and aesthetics, as much as they do sustainability and purity of ingredients–values also reflected in our environmentally friendly packaging and small batch production.” Read more about Farmhouse Chocolates & Ice Cream.
Give Change to Support Good Samaritan Haven
Dedicated to transforming the lives of people experiencing homelessness, Good Samaritan Haven (GSH) is more than just a homeless shelter. They have a variety of facilities that provide guests with shelter beds, essential items to meet their basic needs, and a wide range of support services to help them gain employment, apply for benefits, find treatment or locate stable housing. The organization is working to reduce homelessness in Central Vermont while prioritizing that every person is treated with dignity, compassion and respect during their time of need. Bag That Bag to Help a Neighbor in Need
Help support the Montpelier Food Pantry every time you shop at Hunger Mountain Co-op just by remembering your reusable bags! For each bag, basket, or box that you use at the register, we will donate five cents to the Food Pantry. Last month, this totaled $1,211.85 and saved 24,237 paper bags. Since July of 2019, we have donated $6,270.30 to the food pantry and replaced 125,406 paper bags. Since the Bag That Bag program launched, Hunger Mountain Co-op shoppers have collectively raised $39,201.70 for the food pantry and have saved 784,034 bags! Featured Artists: Montpelier Senior Center
This month we are fortunate to have a group show that came out of the “Painting at All Levels” class at the Montpelier Senior Center. Each artist has been generous enough to share a bit of themselves with us. Read about this month’s featured artists.
