Hello Co-op community,

We’ve been quite busy around here with a bustling Thanksgiving and are now ramping up for the next round of holidays. I saw many of you at the Turkey Table in the days leading up to Thanksgiving. It was great to connect with you, our customers and membership, to assist in finding those missing ingredients for your meals, deliver your turkey, and hear your input. I always welcome feedback, and I particularly appreciated hearing how many of you so strongly support our local farmers and producers. This is not a surprise to me, given that almost 40% of our sales came from local products last year, but it was nice to hear in person. I am thankful to live in a community that values supporting our local food system.

While all of the Thanksgiving busyness was upon us, we were also wrapping up our council election process. Thank you to you for voting and to the Ballot Committee for conducting the counting process the day before Thanksgiving. Congratulations to our new and returning council members. I have a lot of appreciation for the time, dedication, and support our council provides for Hunger Mountain Co-op.

In case you haven’t seen it, our Neighbors Helping Neighbors campaign is underway. According to the Vermont Foodbank, “two in five people are food insecure.” Please consider helping us work to address food insecurity. You can participate either by donating food at the collection point in our exit way—view our high needs items list—or you can donate at the register.
