Meadow Bee
Our Featured Vendor in April is Meadow Bee (Everlasting Herb Farm). Located in Peacham, Meadow Bee is a line of deodorant and skincare products that supports pollinators and uses sustainable, plant-friendly packaging.
Wendy Mackenzie, based in Peacham, Vermont, runs Everlasting Herb Farm with her husband Matthew. They make Meadow Bee deodorant and skincare products. Wendy started Everlasting Herb Farm in 2003 with the help of her friend, Mary Ellen Reis, after interning with Jeff and Melanie Carpenter at Zach Woods Herb Farm and studying under Rosemary Gladstar at Sage Mountain.
Using the values she learned from her parents while growing up in Milton, Vermont, Wendy bases every business decision on helping the environment as much as possible. The Meadow Bee skincare line supports pollinators and uses sustainable, plant-friendly packaging. It utilizes unique, organic ingredients not typically found in skincare products, such as carrier oils and some herbal extracts grown on their farm. Wendy and Matthew organically grow three crops used in most of their skincare products, except for the deodorant: heirloom roses, peonies for the flower petals, and blueberries for the leaves which contain a lot of antioxidants and a high amount of chlorogenic acid.
The Meadow Bee skincare line aims to create a product that feels good on the skin and feels good to buy with all the environmental protections they put into place. Having studied at Formula Botanica in London for many years, Wendy adds the proper quantity of essential oils to lightly scent their products. Having done extensive research, she understands the importance of choosing plants that are safe for people.
At the request of a patron who wanted a cream deodorant, Wendy conducted a two-year deep dive into making deodorant. Knowing that she wanted to avoid baking soda and coconut oil, she came up with a recipe that didn’t include water. After testing various iterations on friends and family, the vegan bee bars were born.
Having refreshed their brand, with a new name, a website, and new labels for their Meadow Bee skincare line, Wendy and Matthew have won six awards in the 2025 Beauty Shortlist Awards. Both small and large companies compete globally, so this is a real accomplishment. Meadow Bee is currently in 67 stores across 14 states. A testament to loving everything about what they do, Wendy is working hard to get Meadow Bee out into the world. With a workspace that looks like a barn in their backyard built by her husband, Wendy feels as though she’s “winning the lottery every day.” Wendy and Matthew celebrate 32 years of marriage this year.
