Dinner and Discussion Recap
At our Dinner and Discussion on May 21, 2026, we heard from Kassia Randizio from the Vermont River Conservancy.

As we plan for our future, it was the perfect time for Kassia Randizio from the Vermont River Conservancy, to speak at our Dinner and Discussion event last evening. She offered a wealth of information on rivers, flooding, and the impacts of human choice. She even shared the concept of having a public walkway and access points along our river.
As owners of two parcels of riverfront property, it is important that we consider the river as we embark on our future planning process. While Kassia shared many important pieces of information, the most compelling for me was the encouragement to treat the river as a community member, to be with it in community rather than beside it. Thank you again to Kassia for spending the evening with us. If you missed it, you can still watch the presentation.

We have kicked off our strategic planning process with the first meeting of our Strategic Planning Committee this week. We were fortunate to have more candidates than we had seats on the committee. We appreciate the many members of our community who expressed interest in helping to plan for our co-op’s future! If you would like to learn more about how you can participate in future opportunities for Hunger Mountain Co-op’s strategic planning, please look for information on our website, in our e-newsletter, or around the store.
With Memorial Day approaching, we are getting ready for a busy weekend. If you are looking for seedlings to plant your garden, we have three racks of beautiful plants from Cate Farm. Does the garden need a boost? We have multiple compost options from Vermont Compost. Did you know that Vermont Compost collects the compost we generate at the Co-op? There is particular pleasure in knowing that our food scraps are turned into actual compost just a few miles away. Now that is local!
Wishing everyone a happy and safe Memorial Day. The Co-op will be closed on Monday, May 25, in observance of the holiday.
