Elevate Youth Services: A Community of Care
The world is on fire—and young people feel it first.

Elevate Youth Services (EYS) is a community-based nonprofit in central Vermont supporting young people ages 12–24 who are navigating homelessness, housing instability, family conflict, system involvement, and other barriers to safety and belonging. As systems strain and safety nets fray, EYS shows up for young people when life gets hard—and when the ground beneath them is actively shifting.
EYS offers safety, care, and real, practical support through a welcoming drop-in teen center, counseling and therapy, emergency shelter, substance use treatment and support, and assistance with education, employment, housing, and long-term stability.
Belonging as a Stabilizing Force
EYS is grounded in the belief that belonging is foundational to wellbeing and stability—especially in times of widespread uncertainty and harm. Young people do not fail out of systems; systems fail to meet young people’s real needs. When housing is scarce, services are fragmented, and compliance is prioritized over care, youth are often blamed for circumstances they did not create.
EYS takes a different approach. The organization’s work is rooted in evidence-informed, relationship-based practice and lived experience, recognizing that connection, consistency, and trusted adults are among the strongest protective factors for youth. Belonging is not a soft value—it is a stabilizing force that allows young people to survive, engage, and begin imagining a future beyond crisis.
A Continuum of Care for Real Life
EYS provides an integrated continuum of care designed around the realities young people are living now—not the systems we wish existed. The organization serves both housed and unhoused youth, including young people impacted by foster care involvement, juvenile justice systems, family separation, trauma, and disconnection from traditional supports.
There is no single entry point and no expectation that young people arrive “ready.” EYS meets youth where they are and walks alongside them as they move toward safer housing, improved wellbeing, and self-determined futures.
Core Services
EYS delivers coordinated, youth-centered services that respond to immediate needs while supporting long-term stability and growth:
- Emergency Shelter & Residential Support
Safe, staffed shelter and residential programs offering stability and care during housing crises, while prioritizing dignity, choice, and safety over punishment or exclusion. - Transitional & Supportive Housing
Housing programs that support young people in developing housing readiness, budgeting and tenancy skills, and the confidence needed to navigate an increasingly unforgiving housing market. - Street Outreach & Drop-In Services
Low-barrier outreach and drop-in spaces providing basic needs support, harm-reduction resources, safety planning, and trusted relationships—often serving as the first bridge to deeper support. - Case Management & Youth Development
One-on-one, strengths-based support focused on housing, education, employment, health, and personal wellbeing, grounded in Positive Youth Development and youth voice. - Health, Wellness & Prevention
Integrated mental health support, substance use education, sexual health education, and wellness programming that reflects the stress, risk, and complexity of young people’s real lives. - Systems Coordination & Community Partnerships
Close collaboration with schools, housing providers, healthcare partners, child welfare, and community organizations to reduce gaps, cut through silos, and build systems that work better for youth.
How EYS Shows Up
Across all programs, Elevate Youth Services is guided by shared commitments to:
- Trauma-informed, relationship-based practice
- Harm reduction and non-punitive accountability
- Youth voice, choice, and self-determination
- Equity, inclusion, and dignity across all identities
- Community care as a protective and healing force
EYS staff show up consistently, tell the truth with care, and remain alongside young people, even when circumstances are complex, resources are stretched, and the stakes are high.
In a world on fire, Elevate Youth Services does not look away.
