Local artist Jennifer Palkowski-Jacques presents her series of original detailed paintings, “Meet Me at Midnight” in the Co-op café for the month of June. Describing the exhibit, she says it’s like being “in the cemetery where sacrificial moths wait at dusk as angels of death … where childhood guilelessness is kept safe, hidden within fragrant nighttime magnolia blooms … under explosions of stars where spirits of the deceased are reincarnated into wild rabbits.”  

We asked Jenn a few questions about her art: 

Question: When did you first start making art and how has your practice changed over time?  

Answer: “I have been an artist my entire life with the guidance and encouragement from my Nani, Ruth Henson. All my work is in her honor.”

Question: Describe your workspace in 8 words or less.  

Answer: “Kitchen, garage, porch, balcony, basement and outside.”

Question: Name 3 artists who inspire you or who you would love being compared to.  

Answer: “Three artists who inspire me are Goya, local artist Nick Neddo, and Tina Berning.”

Question: What is a fun fact about you that many people don’t know? 

Answer: “I have a free-roam pet rabbit who hops around my apartment.”
