Amy Handy is our November featured Art in the Café artist. Amy started making art as a child. As she learned how to read, she enjoyed writing and illustrating stories. Now, she enjoys drawing and painting plants, flowers, and trees, as well as animals. Typically working outdoors, using her garden, the woods, and the view from her porch as inspiration, Amy will be showcasing her artwork and drawings mostly done on paper, with some oil on canvas, and some done in pen, ink, and gouache.

“I love to see art work by others, present or past, and children! So carry a little notebook and something to draw with.” Amy also likes to make paper-mache creations: puppets, masks, music, scenery, and sound effects. When her children were young, Amy recalled having a puppet theatre that performed folk and fairytales with some original stories by kids in parks, libraries, and schools. Later on, Amy and her son did an annual Birthday Party show for his children.
