Council Election and Appointment
Member-Owners, vote for your 2025 Co-op Council now through 8 pm on Tuesday, Nov. 26!
Council Elections Are Ongoing
Voting in the election for Co-op Council began at the Annual Meeting on November 7 and continues through 8 pm on Tuesday, Nov. 26. You can vote in the store (in the exit way) or online.
Even though there are five candidates running for six seats, your vote is still meaningful. The top three vote getters will be assigned to the normal three-year terms. The other two will finish out the two remaining years of the terms of the council members who left the council before their terms were completed.
The council will fill the final seat by appointment. If you’re interested, please apply online by 8 pm on Tuesday, Nov. 19. Also, please keep your calendar open for Sunday, Nov. 24, noon–2 pm. The council will be interviewing candidates in that time window.
A reminder: In case you missed the October 25 candidate forum, you can see four of the five candidates for council and hear them respond to questions on the video recording.
Questions at Annual Meeting
Speaking of responding to questions—General Manager Mary Mullally and I got a lot of questions about the Co-op at the Annual Meeting. We were pleased with the level of engagement of the members who asked questions in person and online, and we stuck around afterwards to talk further with people until everyone left. You can see the whole Annual Meeting on the video recording; the question-and-answer period is at the end, after our presentations on the future of the Co-op. For any questions we were unable to answer in the moment, we plan to follow up with a post either on the website or by emailing the questioner directly.
Wrap-Up
I saw a Buddhist monk approach a hot dog stand once and say, “Make me one with everything.”
The vendor smiled and filled the order (in the edible way, not the spiritual way). The monk paid for the $5 hot dog with a ten-dollar bill, and the vendor simply took the bill and thanked the monk. When the monk asked for change, the vendor told him, “Change comes from within.”
