Our featured artist in January and February is Noah Bowman. Noah is a Vermont native with his feet in the dirt; gardening and cooking while keeping an eye out for art around us in this beautiful landscape. Trained in fine art at the state colleges, he is found frequently using traditional techniques in his photography and as a painter. Noah can be found spending nights working as chef various kitchens around Lamoille County cooking food from fine dining to BBQ. Keeping a work and art balance allowing a natural style of images and seasonal local creative food.

The theme of Noah’s traditional photography work prepared for January 2025 is a tranquil Vermont scenery moment mixed with double exposures. These photographs come off as dreamy and some contain manufactured illusions of depth. Two moments or subjects mixed together to create an interesting portion of “Controlled Chaos.” Subjects like wild mushrooms, landscapes, buildings, and textures become layered on matte fiber paper in my home make-shift darkroom and living room studio. These photographs embody Noah’s mature style as a fine-arts artist and local Vermonter. This style has been developed and inspired, sometimes by mistake, meshing two images combined into one that not only showed contrast in shades of gray but also contrasting scenarios.
