The Co-op has started to feel the hustle and bustle of the approaching holiday season, and preparations are underway. Turkeys will be available for pickup starting this Sunday, and not to worry, we will have some extras (while supplies last) in our meat cooler if you did not order one. If you are looking for a meat alternative, we have those too, along with many other ingredients you need for your meal. And don’t forget to check out our new Cheese Club. You can order December’s offering now through December 10.  

Every November and December, Hunger Mountain Co-op and Northfield Savings Bank team up to provide healthy meals for our neighbors in need by hosting a food and fund drive benefiting the Vermont Foodbank. While shopping, please consider purchasing some items to donate. We have many sales right now with the goal of encouraging folks to Keep One, Give One in support of the Foodbank’s response to the drastically increased need for food assistance. You can help this holiday season by rounding up your purchase to the nearest dollar, making a donation at the register, or dropping off unopened food to the boxes in our exit way. 

How it works: Hunger Mountain Co-op and Northfield Savings Bank donated $2,500 each to the Vermont Foodbank. We are challenging our Co-op community to raise another $2,500 and collect 1,000 pounds of food by December 28. 

If we can reach our community goal, Hunger Mountain Co-op, Northfield Savings Bank, Farrell Distributing, Radio Vermont Group, and Cabot Cooperative Creamery will all make matching $2,500 donations, raising $20,000 to help feed our central Vermont neighbors in need. Every dollar donated helps provide $4.14 worth of nourishing food to neighbors in Vermont who are experiencing hunger, so your generosity makes a real impact. 

 We want to thank everyone who has participated so far. We have already raised over $1,300 in funds and shipped a pallet of food to the Foodbank. We are happy to share that we have more donations than we usually do at this point in the campaign. Let’s continue working together to provide as much support as we can to address food insecurity in our community.
