The Search for a new General Manager
The search for a new, permanent general manager is picking up steam.
The search for a new, permanent general manager is picking up steam. A 9-person General Manager Search Committee has been appointed, with members drawn from the council, general Co-op membership, and employees (View Charter). They are in the process of scheduling their first meeting. To assist the committee, the council has hired Gallagher, Flynn & Company, and we’re working with two professionals there to devise ways to get input from Co-op stakeholders on what qualities we’re looking for in a new General Manager. Gallagher Flynn will help us find qualified candidates in a nation-wide search.
Mary Mullally, who was serving as the Facilities Manager at the time Kari Bradley left the position of General Manager, has since that time added “Interim General Manager” to her responsibilities. At our January 16 meeting, the council explicitly reiterated that we want Mary to continue in the IGM role until a new GM is hired. We thank her for her willingness to shoulder these responsibilities!
The decision of whom to hire as the next GM will have huge consequences for the Co-op. Our previous GM was at the helm for 19 years and shaped the Co-op in uncountable ways. Because of the importance of this decision, we are inviting input and feedback throughout the process from the various stakeholders in our community. Please keep an eye on the eNews and our website for information on how to give input.
And, as a reminder: The council will be appointing a new council member to fill a vacancy and serve until the next council elections, at this year’s Annual Meeting in November. To apply, visit our Governance page or pick up materials in the exit way of the store. The deadline for applying is January 23, 2024.
