Get Involved in May
Get involved in May with these awesome Co-op opportunities!
Apply, Nominate, Run
The Co-op Council has decided to move our Annual Meeting to September this year, and we’ve opened applications for our Apply, Nominate, Run campaign early to accommodate for this change. All applications will be due by June 24, 2025.
Apply for a Grant
The Hunger Mountain Cooperative Community Fund (HMCCF) financially supports businesses, organizations, and initiatives aligned with our mission to build a dynamic community of healthy individuals, sustainable local food systems, and thriving cooperative commerce. This year, we will consider requests for grants of $250 to $3,000 and will only fund projects designed to support local food systems, food access, and inequities in the local food system. Learn more.
Nominate Someone for an Award
The Hunger Mountain Cooperative Community Award (HMCCA) is an annual award given to a Hunger Mountain Co-op member-owner, customer, vendor, employee, council member or community member for special contributions to our cooperative community and the advancement of our mission and Ends Policies. Last year, we did not receive any nominations, so let’s ensure we support the great work our community members do this year by nominating someone!
Run for the Council
Each year, Co-op member-owners run for and elect our governing council. The council represents member-owners in developing and maintaining our co-op’s vision and long-term viability. There will be three open seats in the 2026 Council Election. Per the Co-op bylaws, voting for the 2026 Co-op Council will commence at the Annual Meeting and run for at least two weeks. A democratically elected council is the backbone of Hunger Mountain Co-op’s success. Read more about what it means to be on the council from Council President Carl Etnier in Your Co-op Your Choice and learn more about this year’s election.
Member Volunteer Opportunities
Introducing our new Member Volunteer Program! We’re partnering with various local organizations to bring our membership more ways to save and help do vital work in our community. Members can save 6 percent for two weeks when shopping at the Co-op by volunteering with one of our Member Volunteer Partners for one hour.
Our Member Volunteer Program is offered to current members and Shopping Shares holders. To sign up, attend a Member Volunteer Orientation. Our first orientation is on May 17, 2025, from 11 am to noon. This orientation is hybrid, but space is limited, so please register.
After attending an orientation, check out our Member Volunteer Partners. Then, contact the organization you would like to work with directly. Sign up for shifts by directly contacting the organization’s Volunteer Coordinator and report your hours to them monthly. Learn more by visiting our Member Volunteers web page. Don’t see the partner you are looking for, or does your organization need volunteers? No problem: we are accepting more Member Volunteer Partners. Questions? Please send us an email.
